Meadow Landing

This Special Residential Estate in Australind directly abuts the Collie River and has a high potential for nutrient transport into the River.

The land was previously partially irrigated for dairy purposes and a high water table is present over portions of the site for much of the year.

To control the stormwater flows collected on this site from the proposed urban development, an extended detention basin was designed by TME Director of Engineering Wayne Edgeloe.

This basin was designed to treat all flows from the initial stage of the development, and subsequent further stages would be treated using similar devices.

It formed the initial phase of the drainage management Strategy for the site.

Special care was taken in the design to ensure that the basin was not obtrusive and did not impose on the extremely high landscape amenity of the site.

The lack of hard civil structures in the final design is evidence of the desire to match the stormwater management solution to the natural environment.

It is essential that the final device matches well with the landscape and does not intrude on the aesthetics of the development.
