Churches of Christ Retirement Village

The Churches of Christ Homes and Community Services were planning to construct several Villages around Western Australia providing the foundation for its focus on aged accommodation and care.

TME were approached by the Churches of Christ to provide planning support for the proposed development of a Retirement Village in Eaton. From this small project, TME’s role has expanded to become:
• Village Planner, Eaton
• Project Team Engineering Services Coordinator Eaton ,Rockingham and Yanchep.
• Civil Engineering Consultant, Earthworks, Roadworks and Drainage, Eaton and Rockingham and Yanchep projects.

From both a planning and engineering perspective the Eaton Village is a unique project. Being located between the Glen Huon Primary School and the Eaton Community College the Churches of Christ is endeavouring to create an environment of interaction between the village residents and the children. This has been achieved with an interactive path network and open linkages.

Both schools also have a high environmental awareness, with the Community College containing a Category 1 wetland and the Primary School utilising a wetland area within the school boundary as an educational space, adopting a locally found green frog as their school emblem.

TME has successfully achieved a balance between the development requirements of the client and the needs of the local public.

The overall development of Bethanie Village, Eaton compromised:
• 170 Independent Living Units (ILU’s)
• Village Clubhouse, including swimming pool, bowling green and Function facilities
• A 130 bed Aged Care Facility
• Two Community Day Care Centres
• Administration and Workshop Facilities

With a total construction cost of approximately $35 million and the increased employment opportunities, the Bethanie Village is a major boost to the local economy and the Shire of Dardanup.
